    Island Breeze Luau

    BIG ISLAND Activities - Rated the best lü'au on the Big Island by visitors travel writers and kama'äina local residents the Island Breeze Lü'au is held under the stars on the historic grounds of the King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. Enjoy delicious food, beautiful atmosphere and amazing entertainment all combined for very special memories.

    Lei greeting, picture taking, open bar, arts and crafts and imu ceremony are all a part of the welcome and introduction to your Island Breeze 'ohana. A warm welcome and shell lei greeting begin the evening with Island Breeze. Kilikini has the canoe filled with delicious mai tais, fruit punch for the family and an open bar.

    Our Royal Court, representing the personages of King Kamehameha I and his retainers, arrives at Kamakahonu Bay aboard an outrigger canoe to a greeting by the Court Conch Herald and Court Chanter. Follow this procession into the Royal Grounds to see the lü'au's main course removed from the imu (underground oven).

    Enjoy an array of delicious local dishes, starting with the kalua pig, teryaki steaks, mahi-mahi, local style chicken, fried rice, lomi-lomi, assorted salads, just to name a few...

    The show...

    The Island Breeze show is filled with excitement, aloha and 'ohana, (love and family). From the Fijian and Maori dances of war to the gracefulness of our Hawaiian hula hands, we bring you and your family a fun-filled evening. Our daring Samoan Fire knife dancer highlights your experience with an astonishing demonstration of bravery and skill!

    Hawai'i
    Aloha! E Hele mai. Come and listen to the sounds... the distant call of the Hawaiian chanter... and the beating of the ipu heke. We will share the laughter, the color, the excitement and the joy of the Hawaiian Hula.

    Samoa
    Talofa! Join the 'aiga (family) in Samoa where the people love life and enjoy having a great time. You will be fascinated by the bravery and courage of the Siva 'Afi (Samoan fire-knife dance).

    Tahiti
    Meet our cousins the first families to the Hawaiian Islands the "Tahitians." After the islands were settled, they arrived in double hauled canoes from the south. Come and listen to their resounding drums and pounding rhythms and the dance "Ia Orana!"

    Fiji
    Bula Vinaka! Anthropologists believe the people of Fiji eventually settled all of Polynesian. Their "meke", or spear dance fascinates audiences because of the dancers agility.

    New Zealand
    Kia'ora! Native to New Zealand are the Moari. You are welcomed into their whanau (family) and greeted with a haka by our Maori warriors. Women compliment the strength of the men with their powerful "Karaga" (chant) and the graceful "waiata a ringa" long poi ball dance.
