    Ultimate Sunrise Bike Downhill

    MAUI ACTIVITIES - Get ready for an adventure of a life time, where you'll get to do what very few people have ever dreamt of... riding down the slops of Haleakala,a dormant volcano AKA "the House of the Sun". This Sunrise Journey is by far the most popular bicycle tour on Maui and since the new park regulations, it has very limited capacity so needless to say, advanced reservations are a MUST!

    Mountain Riders is one of the few companies that can take you down 26 miles due to their outstanding safety records.  They are one of the original Maui downhill bike tours so they boast a lot of experience!

    Your Haleakala bicycle downhill tour will begin early (between 2 and 3 AM) with a pick up at your hotel, where you'll start your journey to the Summit of Haleakala on a comfortable air conditioning van. During your ride your guides will tell you about the history of Haleakala, its geology and will also explain about rare plants and animals only found on Maui. Upon arrival at the House of the Sun Visitors Center, you will be escorted to the rim of the Crater where you will enjoy the awesome view into the worlds largest dormant volcano. Your Tour will then proceed to the 6,500 foot level of Haleakala where you will be expertly fitted to your bicycle and begin your 28-mile bike ride down the slopes of Haleakala, continuing through the switchbacks, Haleakala Ranch, and Kula.

    On you way down you'll get to make a breakfast or REST stop at the Sunrise Market & Protea Farm (no-host breakfast available for purchase. Prices range from $9 to $12). Your ride of a lifetime will continue through Hailimaile and down to the Pacific Ocean ending at Paia Bay Beach Park.

    Your tour will include round trip transportation, continental breakfast served at our office baseyard, Columbia Sportswear windbreaker pants and jacket, gloves, helmet and state of the art Volcano Chrome Cruiser Bikes.

    RESTRICTIONS:
    Must be 12 years old
    Must be at least 4'10" tall
    Must be a competent bike rider
    May not be pregnant
    Must sign an acknowledgement of risk form
    Must view the Mountain Rider safety video

    Things to consider before participating:
    - Are you taking any medications that would impair your ability to ride safely?
    - Do you have any medical conditions that would affect your ability to ride safely?
    - Are you affraid of heights?
    - Are you comfortable on a bike (getting on and off safely, riding a bicycle in
    complete control, and maneuvering your bike through 180 degree turns)?


    Please understand that if a participant is found to be unable or unwilling to satisfy the qualifications of participating in this bike tour, Mountain Riders may terminate his/her participation at any point during the tour.
    You must also be aware that this activity entails risk of injury and even death.
