    Maui Self Guided Bike Tour

    MAUI ACTIVITIES - If you like the idea of having the freedom to ride anywhere and everywhere, stop and go as you please, this Self-guided Haleakala Bike Downhill tour just might be the Maui bicycle tour that fits your style. You'll experience the longest unguided tour offered on Maui and ride greater distances than most guided tours (28 miles - some stop at 20 miles), down the slopes of Haleakala all the way into the town of Paia.

    Your self paced tour will include an actual van tour of the National Park and House Of The Sun visitor center.  You will then be shuttled to the 6,500 feet elevation where you will begin your 28 miles of biking at your own comfortable pace.

    Where it starts: You will meet your tour guides at Starbucks Coffee Shop at the Maui Market Place (Kahului) at 7:00 a.m. Transportation to the summit and a continental breakfast (coffee & pastries) will be served en-route to the summit where you will be fitted for your Volcano Chrome Cruiser bike, helmet, Columbia Sportswear windbreaker pants, jacket and gloves.

    Where it ends: Upon completion of your bike ride, you will be shuttled back to Starbucks Coffee Shop. Departure times from Paia Bay Beach Park are 1:30pm, and 2:30pm. Riders arriving to Paia after 2:30 p.m. will be charged a $20.00 per person transportation fee.

    RESTRICTIONS:
    Must be 12 years old
    Must be at least 4'10" tall
    Must be a competent bike rider
    May not be pregnant
    Must sign an acknowledgement of risk form
    Must view the Mountain Rider safety video

    Things to consider before participating:
    - Are you taking any medications that would impair your ability to ride safely?
    - Do you have any medical conditions that would affect your ability to ride safely?
    - Are you affraid of heights?
    - Are you comfortable on a bike (getting on and off safely, riding a bicycle in complete control, and maneuvering your bike through 180 degree turns)?

    Please understand that if a participant is found to be unable or unwilling to satisfy the qualifications of participating in this bike tour, Mountain Riders may terminate his/her participation at any point during the tour.
    You must also be aware that this activity entails risk of injury and even death.
